Darvin^® Furniture Awards More Than 100 Prizes to ‘Giveaway’ Winners

Orland Park, IL, Jan. 17, 2019 – While Lisa Kmak of Orland Park, IL, was shopping with her mother at Darvin® Furniture, she says she saw the entry forms for the 98th Anniversary Furniture Giveaway and took a minute to fill one out and place it into the drop box. That decision paid off when she recently got the call that she had won a $2,079 Fairmont Designs sofa, part of more than $189,000 in furniture prizes Darvin allocated for their annual anniversary celebration.

According to Bob McGivney, Darvin Furniture & Mattress store manager, giving away the huge number of furniture prizes is a Darvin tradition that has been going on for decades. The prizes included entertainment sets, dining sets, bedroom sets, sofas, china cabinets, mattresses and more.

For Tinley Park, IL, resident and long-time Darvin customer Jeff Lyons, his entry form in the Darvin Anniversary Giveaway yielded an 84-inch Aspenhome console with a retail value of $1,970.99. “Winning the console worked out really good. My wife and I just moved into a new home and we were shopping at Darvin to fill the rooms when I filled out the entry form,” says Lyons. “The console was exactly what my wife was looking for. I’ve never really won anything like this before. It really worked out well.”

McGivney says Darvin, 15400 La Grange Road, Orland Park, IL, Chicagoland's largest furniture and mattress store, asked Orland Park Mayor Keith Pekau to pull the names of more than 100 entries for prizes. Winners were from many of Chicago’s south suburban towns as well as distant locations such as Hoffman Estates, Mt. Prospect, St. John, IN, and Cedarburg, WI.

“I’ve been shopping at Darvin for more than 27 years,” says Kmak. “I was so excited to get the call from Darvin that I’d won. I’ve never won anything before and I couldn’t believe it.”

Everyone visiting the Darvin showroom for the November drawing was able to pick up a copy of the 98th Anniversary Catalog, which featured thousands of beautiful furniture items, accessories, rugs and mattresses. The catalog was available to customers visiting Darvin throughout October and November.
