Darvin Introduces Grand Opening Crowd to All-New Renovations, New Showroom Galleries

Evening filled with ribbon cutting celebrations, showcasing new spaces, brand names and $5,000 donation to local food pantry

Orland Park, IL, March 22, 2018 – “Welcome to the brand-new look of our 97-year-old company,” were the welcoming words from Darvin Furniture & Mattress Co-Owner Steve Darvin. With an enthusiastic crowd numbering more than 200, the family, friends, employees, business partners and local political representatives of Orland Park gathered around the newly renovated entryway and showroom and celebrated with the iconic family-owned business.

Standing beside his brother, Darvin Co-Owner Marty Darvin recalled all the hard work his father and grandfather put into the foundation of the business, which began in 1920. “Thank you to all of our dedicated employees for their hard work, and thank you to our excellent vendors for the great products and services they provide, without them, this expansion and grand opening would not have been possible,” said Darvin.

Helping to kick off the evening’s festivities was Orland Park’s own Robin Baumgarten, Emmy-award winning co-anchor for WGN’s morning news. She talked about growing up on the South Side, understanding what a family-owned business was all about, and recognizing the accomplishment for a Darvin family business that has been through the market’s ups and downs for more than nine decades.

One highlight of the evening had Steve and Marty Darvin presenting the Orland Township Food Pantry with a check for $5,000. The pantry, which services tens of thousands of residents in several villages, provides food and support for those families most in need. Accepting the check were Orland Township Trustee John Lynch, Orland Township Food Pantry Coordinator Robin Kassis and Orland Park Mayor Keith Pekau.

Darvin? Furniture, Chicagoland’s largest furniture and mattress store, 15400 La Grange Road, Orland Park, IL, has been marking the Grand Opening celebration with fun activities throughout the month. In partnership with Bettenhausen Automotive, customers visiting Darvin between March 6-26 can register for a drawing to win a 2018 Jeep Wrangler JK Unlimited Sahara 4x4 and a $500 gas card. Other customer drawings included a weekend of giving away rocker recliners every two hours. The drawing for the Grand Prize Jeep Sahara will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, March 26, at the Orland Park store.
