Orland Park, IL, January 19, 2022 – In an effort to help with the severe region-wide and local blood shortages in the Chicagoland area, Darvin Furniture & Mattress will hold a Blood Drive 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., Sunday, February 6, at its Orland Park, Ill., store, 15400 La Grange Road. Anyone showing up to donate blood will be entered into a raffle to win prizes including Apple Watch-Series 3, Apple AirPod Pro, Beats Studio Earbuds, and $100 Home Depot Gift Cards. According to Versiti Blood Centers, one of Chicagoland's most experienced blood donation organizations and home to the world-renowned Blood Research Institute, the pandemic has created a severe shortage in the blood supply that could eventually cause problems for patients at hospitals who may need life-saving transfusions.

Responding to the needs of its local communities is something Darvin has always made a priority, though this will be the very first blood drive for Chicagoland's largest furniture and mattress store. Darvin Furniture & Mattress President Will Harris says there is no better way to show just how important he feels the blood drive is than for him to sign up for the very first slot to donate.

"We have all been impacted in one way or another by the pandemic, but when we heard about the critical blood shortages in the Chicagoland area, we wanted to try to do something more to help out," says Darvin Furniture & Mattress President Will Harris. "Darvin's blood drive on Sunday, February 6, is our very first of the new year, but it will not be our last effort to help our communities to get through these rough times."

The blood donations will take place in the comfortable and safe setting of the Versiti Blood Centers mobile unit located right outside the main entrance to the showroom. Donors will be required to wear facemasks while donating blood.

Darvin employees will team up with customers and the surrounding communities to ensure the goals of the blood drive are met and life-saving donations can help people in need in Chicagoland.
