Leather Italia USA was created by Michael Campbell, current President / CEO. Mr. Campbell's background begins in 1990 when he became an expert in leather tannery work. During his career working with the raw leather material Mr. Campbell conducted national seminars in which he taught retailers about the characteristics of leather. Mr. Campbell is recognized in the industry as having the highest level of expertise in leather knowledge. It is with this knowledge that the foundation of Leather Italia USA was created, to offer the highest quality leather furniture at a value unmatched in the industry.
Leather Italia USA began in 1996 with 4 models sourced from the Tuscany region of Italy and was first presented at the April High Point Furniture Market in 1997. Initially, distributing and servicing North & South Carolina, the company grew quickly and within 8 months expanded into the neighboring states with 6 Sales Representatives. Volume grew allowing Leather Italia USA to start factoring which was the funding arm for financial growth. At the time Leather Italia USA had 2 warehouses in Wilmington, NC. In 2004 Mr. Campbell purchased property in neighboring Leland, NC and encompassed the warehouse and corporate office under one roof.
During the growth period from 1997 - 2004 Leather Italia USA held regional warehouses in California, Texas, and North Carolina. Today Leather Italia USA has warehouse facilities in North Carolina and Arizona, employing over 35 people in the corporate office, and over 40 independent sales representatives in the US and international markets. Leather Italia USA is positioned and corporately organized to accelerate our distribution networks and sales growth well into the future.
Today Leather Italia USA is looked upon as a national brand name and has partnered with many of the finest retail operations in the country. Leather Italia USA has received prestigious awards and been recognized from many organizations including Furniture Today and several top 100 retail chains. Leather Italia USA is also working with the UNC Hospital / UNC Burn Center to raise funds for medical research, awareness, and development. This is a partnership that Leather Italia USA is most proud of.
