4 WAYS to Cozy-Up Your Patio

Outdoor Spaces Deserve a Personal Touch

TRY LOUNGE CHAIR
Since there is little chance your outdoor dining set is adding a level of comfort to your outdoor setting, the biggest impact item you should focus on initially is going to be seating. Today’s outdoor options are stylish and incredibly comfortable, and you don’t have to break the bank either.

The lounge chair is one of the best ways to be inviting for guests and comfy at the same time. Whether it’s rattan or a composite material, these chairs are very versatile, durable, and can easily be hosed off on occasion.

DON’T SHY AWAY FROM USING RUGS
Embracing the outdoor rug is one of the easiest ways to add a bit of comfort, some safety, and a little more personality to any outdoor space. These rugs come in many different sizes and are able to standup to whatever the elements throw at them.

Adding a bit of cushion between feet and the pavement, or hot decking, outdoor rugs also prevent slipping on wet surfaces. It’s one of the best ways to take what can often be a sea of neutral colors, on a patio or a deck, and spice things up with color and patterns.

GO GREEN – LITERALLY
Don’t miss the chance to further accessorize your cozy outdoor space and embrace the use of greenery. Whether it’s flowers and bold colors, or the transformative potential of hanging baskets and potted greenery, the use only brings the outdoors closer to the indoor comfort you’re shooting for.

Remember: Real plants and flowers need care, they need watering and they need attention to ensure they thrive in the outdoor space. When incorporating flowers and plants, think about the process of watering them. Probably not a great idea to place the baskets 15 feet off the patio or directly above a seating area.

BRIGHTEN UP WITH ACCENTS
Outdoor spaces are best enjoyed when it’s warm enough to be comfortable. Here in the Midwest, that’s spring, summer and early fall. Don’t shy away from adding some touches of bright accent color to your patio. Bright colors make it easy to draw attention to anything you like on the patio.

Tip: Avoid over-utilizing bright colors. Contrast is still the best play, so if you have a neutral couch or lounge chair pad, colorize away – but if you choose bright as the background color, opposites definitely attract.
