Darvin® Furniture Prepares for Eager Crowds Gathering Before Doors Open at Spring Odds & Ends Sale

Orland Park, IL, May 1, 2018 – Every year Darvin® Furniture & Mattress Chicagoland's largest furniture and mattress store, opens the doors to its Distribution Center, 19111 Darvin Drive in Mokena, and allows the public to roam the warehouse floor where hundreds of one-of-a-kind items are available at large discounts, some as much as 80% off original prices. As the word gets out about the 2018 Odds & Ends Sale, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, May 6, plans are being made to cope with what has been a growing number of shoppers who arrive well in advance of the doors opening at 9 a.m.

According to Darvin Manager Vicky Georgiadis, last year’s Odds & Ends Sale saw more than 100 shoppers arriving well in advance of the doors opening, forming a line that ran across the parking lot.

“I can only compare it to something like a concert, people start arriving very early to get a place in line so that when the doors open they have first crack at the merchandise,” Georgiadis says. “It’s like a concert where the stars are the pieces of furniture.”

This year’s Odds & Ends Sale, the third Darvin has ever conducted, will continue to stick with what has been so popular with previous events: offering very distinct items with no duplications, at enormous discounted rates. The opportunity to simply get in and get something is the driving force behind the immense enthusiasm of the crowds that attend.

“Each time the crowds get bigger. The moment the doors open to the warehouse floor, people take off like they were heading to the front row seat of a concert,” says Georgiadis. “People try to identify anything they might like and immediately either stake a claim by sitting on it or standing next to it. The energy level is based on the sense of urgency, since there are no duplicates, and once something is gone – it is gone forever.”

Barbara Harrington, director of Marketing, says many shoppers are attracted as much by the unique warehouse setting as the potential to land a bargain. “Who wouldn’t be excited at the chance to find something unique at a great price. These are real treasures that are going for a fraction of what they are worth,” says Harrington. “It’s easy to see why so many shoppers come out to our warehouse and it is great to see such enthusiasm from people who travel from all over the Chicagoland market.”
