Darvin Furniture & Mattress President Will Harris stopped by WVLI FM 'The Valley' to talk to on-air personality Denny Case about the huge 200,000-square-foot facility at Darvin, Chicagoland's largest furniture & mattress store, and the even bigger savings for Darvin customers during the 'We Have Everything' sale. 103.5 KISS FM and WGCI on-air personality Ryan Lee stopped by Darvin Furniture & Mattress in Orland Park, Ill., from noon to 2 p.m. to celebrate the Markdown Season event, which coincided with the March basketball tournament. One of Orland Park's very own, Ryan Lee met with customers who were able to shoot hoops to win White Sox tickets, gift cards and register to win furniture prizes.

On March 6, Darvin Furniture & Mattress hosted one of Southland Development Authority's Coffee Connection meetings at the all-new Mr. Darvin's Coffee Shop located in Darvin's Orland Park, Ill., showroom. In addition to some high-quality coffee beverages by Darvin baristas, and pastries provided by Huntington Bank, the exciting cafe space includes the all-new Marketplace at Darvin.

Following the huge President's Day Sale, Darvin Furniture & Mattress President Will Harris appeared on the Kankakee, Illinois, radio station 92.7 FM WVLI broadcast in February. The Greatest Hits by The Greatest Artists radio station's classic hits format was the perfect backdrop as Will told the WVLI FM audience about Darvin's 105-year history, the all-new Marketplace, the advantages of buying Darvin furniture a la carte, and the current scratch-off card promotion. On Saturday, February 22, Darvin Furniture & Mattress President Will Harris was honored as the Corporate Partner of the Year by the Crisis Center for South Suburbia, which has been providing housing, counseling, advocacy, outreach and prevention programs to victims of domestic violence for over 45 years. With a capacity crowd in the Grand Ballroom at Odyssey Country Club in Tinley Park, the Center hosted its annual fundraiser, the Sweet Home Chicago Gala. Harris and Darvin Furniture & Mattress were recognized for their corporate partnership.

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker visited Darvin Furniture & Mattress in Orland Park Thursday, February 6. He toured the expansive showroom and discussed the potential impact tariffs would have on the 104-year-old employee-owned business. Businesses like Darvin could have to pay higher taxes on imports, which would increase their costs and potentially raise prices for their customers.

Business of the Month: Darvin Furniture & Mattress was recognized as the Village of Orland Park’s January 2025 Business of the Month. Darvin has been a staple of Orland Park since 1980. Owners were presented with the Business of the Month award and January 20, 2025 was declared Darvin Furniture & Mattress Day in Orland Park.

Members of the Orland Park Area Chamber of Commerce joined Darvin Furniture & Mattress President Will Harris, and Chamber President Sarah Stasukewicz, for a Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony welcoming the all-new Marketplace at Darvin to the community. The event featured small bites from Bonefish Grille and delicious beverages from Mr. Darvin's Coffee Shop.

Women from all over the Orland Park area came to Darvin Furniture & Mattress to discuss businesses and network. Each of the attendees were able to talk about their professional skillset and offer information about their business. Both Sarah Stasukewicz, CEO of the Orland Park Chamber and Darvin Furniture & Mattress President Will Harris spoke to the group. In addition to their professional bios, attendees shared their Darvin experiences and how they liked the recent renovations. Guests enjoyed the all-new Mr. Darvin's Coffee Shop and complimentary pastries.

On Friday, January 10, Darvin Furniture & Mattress celebrated the Grand Opening of the Marketplace at Darvin, a multi-million-dollar project redefining home furnishings shopping. President Will Harris kicked off the event with an inspiring speech, joined by Steve and Marty Darvin. Over 100 guests explored trending furniture and accessories in this innovative retail space. The celebration featured cocktails, Polonia Catering, a DJ, and a Nitro ice cream station, creating a lively atmosphere for this landmark occasion.

Darvin Furniture & Mattress showcased its Spin to Win event, a two-week New Year’s sale incorporating Darvin's very own huge wheel of prizes. There was no purchase necessary to spin the Wheel, and to have a chance to win. During the two-week promotion, Darvin gave away a $5,000 shopping spree, a snowblower, a microwave, gift cards, and other great prizes.

Celebrating 104 years in business, Darvin Furniture & Mattress held its annual Furniture Giveaway at the Orland Park showroom, 15400 S. La Grange Road. Darvin President Will Harris with the assistance of Fred and Jason from The Fred Show helped pull the names of winners for $250,000 in furniture & mattress prizes, from entertainment sets and dining sets to bedroom sets, sofas, mattresses, and more.

Darvin was the presenting sponsor at the Joliet Region Chamber of Commerce & Industry Council for Working Women's Martinis & Mistletoe event at Clarion Hotel & Convention Center in Joliet. A dozen holiday drinks were available to taste and vote on, while raffles, food & entertainment rounded out the evening's fun schedule. Darvin President Will Harris awarded the winners. The proceeds from the evening helped support the CWW and its Scholarship Fund.

Darvin Furniture & Mattress, Chicagoland's largest furniture and mattress store, ushered in the holiday spirit with its annual Black Friday event. Darvin President Will Harris, and Robin Rock from 93.9 Lite FM, welcomed customers to the store with huge deals and the season's best holiday music. Stukenberg began her career at Darvin in late 2021, initially tracking purchase orders to manage ever-changing lead times. With a background in Fine Art, she transitioned to the role of assistant buyer, guided by Hanny Diab, vice president of merchandising, who helped her learn the intricacies of various product categories and the furniture industry at large.

The International Home Furnishings Industry group and its philanthropic partner City of Hope, one of the largest cancer research and treatment organizations in the United States, have named six industry veterans who will be honored in this year’s signature fundraising events, The Spirit of Life Award Dinner and the West Coast Golf & Tennis Tournament. Among the six industry leaders honored are local third-generation owners of Darvin Furniture & Mattress, Steve and Marty Darvin. In support and celebration of this honor, Steve and Marty, along with Darvin President Will Harris have decided to give guests who donate to City of Hope a special offer between January 17 and February 27.

Steve and Marty Darvin, third-generation owners of Darvin Furniture & Mattress, will be honored in April 2023 with the City of Hope Spirit of Life Award. City of Hope is one the nation's largest cancer research and treatment organizations and one of the leading research centers for diabetes and other life-threatening illnesses.

Will Harris grew up in his family's furniture business, learning from an early age the value of hard work, serving customers, and the importance of a strong culture among employees. Three years ago, when the opportunity to lead Orland Park-based Darvin Furniture became available, Harris jumped at the chance to take the helm of another multi-generation, family-run business.

Darvin Furniture & Mattress was a sponsor for the Blues Brothers Con Fundraiser Event at the Old Joliet Prison. This event featured Dan Aykroyd and James Belushi reprising their iconic roles of Elwood and Brother Zee in a live performance at the sold-out 16-acre prison complex. Darvin employees and their families enjoyed attending and meeting generations of Darvin customers. As a sponsor of the event, Darvin gave away tickets to the event.

Darvin Furniture & Mattress has promoted Karla Niemiec to Upholstery Buyer for the 102-year-old company. Niemiec, who has been an assistant upholstery buyer for 14 years with the iconic Chicagoland furniture retailer, has already begun the transition process involved with taking over the responsibilities at Darvin Furniture. She will report directly to Darvin Furniture & Mattress President Will Harris. "I worked directly with Steve Darvin in upholstery. He taught me everything I know," says Niemiec. "It means everything to me to have the faith and trust Will Harris and Steve and Marty Darvin have put in me."

Every year Darvin Furniture & Mattress gives away hundreds of thousands of dollars in furniture prizes to customers who visit the Orland Park showroom and put in an entry form. When Louis Darvin started his business selling furniture door-to-door from catalog pictures in 1920, the carnage of World War 1 and the tragedy of a world-wide pandemic were recent and painful memories. "The key element is that we remained active, and the actions we took were ethical," Harris said. "We didn’t disappear. We remained active in some way and benefited the community in some way."

Darvin Furniture is spending $4 million to expand its Orland Park store to more than 200,000 square feet, continuing the philosophy of the third-generation, family-owned business that it operates best under one big roof. Darvin, which opened on 2 acres at 15400 La Grange Road in 1979 and has since grown its footprint to 13 acres, had sales growth of 5 percent to $83 million last year, according to the trade magazine Furniture Today, which in May listed Darvin as 71st in its ranking of the top 100 furniture retailers in the U.S. by revenue. It was one of only two companies on the list to have just one store.

Darvin Furniture has opened a dedicated Bassett gallery here in its 130,000-square-foot showroom. Grandsons Steve and Marty Darvin now own and operate the 130,000-squarefoot showroom located on 11 acres.
